Project of the Month: March

This month's project will be a bit bigger than the previous months.  It will require a bunch of lifting, hauling, packing, and puzzle skills.  This month's project consists of survival.  We are moving the end of the month.  How is the packing going, you ask?  I'm hoping to start today.  Yup.  Life is a little hectic right now, which is why I'm skipping March in my Project of the Month series.  Hopefully I will have something accomplished for April, but I'm not holding my breath.  Moving is a big deal, and we've done way too much of it!  Unfortunately due to circumstance beyond our control it's something we must do again.  Here's to getting rid of stuff and bigger spaces!

Josh and I had our 20 week ultrasound on Monday and it was amazing, to say the least. We got to see our little girl moving around and being all cute. Everything looks great and we are totally ecstatic to meet our Daisy LouAnn!!

Goodbye sports car, hello parent-mobile! Although it was very sad to say good bye to my slammin sports car, Josh and I are very excited about our new car! Although we spent 4.5 hours at the dealership, we came out with a vehicle that was newer than we anticipated, and a great deal!!

update

This is going to be a boring post. Just throwing that out there. No pictures, just an update. Quite a bit has happened in the last few weeks. Since I don't have much time on my break, I think I'll make this a bullet update....

*Josh and I adopted a dog, old news if you follow my blog.

*I got laid off at my job.

*I finished a HUGE project I've been working on for months. I can't reveal it yet, but will in a couple weeks.

*Lots of family issues going on Josh's side of the family. When people you love hurt, you hurt too, and pray all the harder.

*Got re-hired at LifeWay, different department, different position.

*Unintentionally went on a 10 day hiatus from my medicine, so now my body needs to get used to it again which means I'm sick ALL the time.

*Going on a VERY quick trip to Maryland this weekend - Wye Bible's 25th Anniversary Celebration.

*Josh suffered a bout of insomnia, had to go to the doctor and get sleeping pills. So far they are working like a charm.

*My workouts have suffered due to the interruption of my routine and sickness. I have plans to get into the swing of things again on Monday.

*And, last but not least, I think I've decided that all the mosquitos in the entire world reside in Tennessee, specifically in my backyard, and I think it's time for them to go. Amen.

iwo who-a?

I woke up thinking about this and I just can't shake it this morning. If you haven't heard about the waters TIME has been stirring up, you can read about it here. Maybe it's because I was raised in a household with a strong sense of patriotism, maybe it's because I have a few family members related to the military, maybe it's because I have a low tolerance for disrespect, maybe it's because I love my God and my country and those close to me who have fought for the freedom of both. Maybe it's for all these reasons that I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the thinking process of this comparison. My initial reaction when I saw this: "What? You've got to be kidding me". Whether you see global warming as a valid threat or not, making this kind of statement seems ludicrous, and completely disrespectful.

my weekend

On Saturday, Josh and I went with our small group (or village, as our church calls it) to a small, country church in Fairview, TN. This church had started to prepare hot food. We boxed up carton upon carton of hot meals, cold sandwiches, bread, and desserts, and loaded them into our vehicles. We started off down the road, looking for people who were working outside, sawing trees, clearing debris, and picking through what was left of their belongings. These were tornado victims, many who had lost everything, some who just had major damage. One of the first families we came upon was a man, his wife, and their little boy. They were picking through their things and placing the salvageable things in a pile, just feet from where their foundation was, and where their house used to be. Many we came upon had tired faces that washed over with relief when we told them we had some hot lunch to give them. We also prayed over everyone we met. It was such an amazing and humbling experience. I won't soon forget the things we saw or the people we met. Please pray for these people as they try to put their lives back together.

tornado report

This picture doesn't have anything to do with the subject of the post. Just a bit of random creativity from my cubicle neighbor. Yes, it's a groundhog inside a Starbucks thingie.

Just in case you heard about our crazy weather last night. We were kept safe and sound from the tornados. We had some big storms and annoying tornado sirens in the wee hours of the morning, but other than that, all is well. Thanks be to God!

help yourself

So I have been slacking big time on blogging. So sorry. I guess the biggest story at this point in our lives is that we now have our car back, safe and sound, in our possession. If you keep up with Josh's blog, then you already heard the story, but in case you haven't, his car was "stolen" from our apartment a little over a month ago. Last week as we were going through the process of getting compensated from our insurance company, we came to find out that it had been illegally towed. The tags were expired, so yes, had they gone through the proper procedures they could have taken it away all legal-like. However, the towing company failed to go through the proper motions. They didn't have any of the signed papers they're supposed to get when towing a car, and they failed to notify the proper people and all that. On top of it all our apartment complex were the ones that reported the expired tags, but didn't bother to tell us where our car went. We had reported it stolen to the police. Since the towing company didn't notify the state they towed the car, the police didn't know it was towed either, so here we sat for a month waiting for them as they looked for our stolen car. We found out, not through our apartment complex, but through our insurance company that it was the apartment manager that had it towed. When confronted he denied not going through proper procedure. They had fraudulent paperwork stating they warned us by tagging our car that it would be towed if we didn't renew the tags. He couldn't seem to understand why we reported it stolen to the police when our car just wasn't there one day. So, we're not best friends. Kudos to my husband for sticking to his guns and not giving up when they threatened to charge us $300, then $700 for getting the car back. Long story short, there were some auto theft detectives involved and they made things happen so we got our car back for the $65 towing fee only, and our insurance will cover that. Now we get to go through the fun of emissions and registering and all that mess. Whoopie!!!

white stuff

I can't believe it! It snowed in Nashville last night! As I was stepping outside to go to the grocery store, I opened my door to falling snow! I had to look at it a few seconds to realize it really was snow falling from the sky! Granted, it was gone by the time I got back from the store, but it did snow.

For those of you who have been asking, here is the latest update on Daniel's issues. I have other pics and things to post from the Thanksgiving holiday so I will hopefully get to that before the end of the week. Between a crazy week at work, trying to settle back in after being gone for 10 days, and setting up Christmas in my house, it's just a tad crazy! I love the Christmas season though. It's one of those busy and crazy times that you don't mind are busy and crazy b/c it's so much fun! We are looking forward to a fun time in Maryland this year with my in laws. Anyways, more updates later!

please pray for my brother

My brother, Daniel, is having some health issues. It all actually started over a year ago when he noticed he was losing some of his vision. After going through a gamut of tests and being on blood thinner meds for a while, it was determined that he must have had a stroke in his eye. The doctors didn't seem to know why, and he hadn't lost anymore eyesight, so he was finally down to just taking an aspirin a day. A few days ago he noticed more vision loss. He went to the hospital where tests were again executed. This time they found the dissection has grown and reaches up toward his brain. They are doing a CT scan to see how far up it goes, then they will do surgery and I think put a stent in his coratid artery....Daniel, if I'm messing any of this up please feel free to correct me....Right now they are waiting for the CT scan. Please just pray that this will be able to be fixed w/o any more problems and for Daniel and his family as they go through this experience.
